Ham Cheddar Spinach Quiche Recipe

Whereas weekday mornings are frantic, weekend mornings are lazy and laid-back. They are when we curl up with mugs of coffee and get cozy on the couch to read … or maybe watch cartoons. They are the ebb to the flow of the week, the yin to the yang.

It’s also when we can let things cook a little longer, because we aren’t hustling to catch a bus or rushing to a morning meeting. If we’re feeling industrious, that could mean whipping up overnight cinnamon rolls or fresh muffins. But sometimes you just want something fresh without a lot of fuss. You know what I mean: the kind of dish that almost cooks itself — even though it takes almost an hour.

Ham Cheddar Spinach Quiche

Quiche is one of those dishes. It feels fancy, like you’ve stepped outside your little townhouse into a fancy country inn where freshly squeezed orange juice sits in carafes and little itty bitty flaky croissants beckon with soft butter nearby. But in reality, this could be one of the easiest recipes you make all year. No need to tell anyone though. Let your family — or house guests — be impressed with your culinary prowess.

Making quiche is a pretty simple process. You simply layer ingredients in a pie crust. Pour the egg mixture in. Then bake. That’s it. That’s all it takes to turn a few simple ingredients into a light, fluffy egg pie dotted with ham, spinach and cheddar.

Want to make it even easier? If you are really short on time — or just don’t feel like chopping ham — check the salad bar at your local grocery store for already-chopped ham. It was about a dollar and change when I did this recently — and worth it for the time savings it afforded me.
